In our business, there are very few tangible products. We’re educators…our knowledge is our product, our intellectual property.
I like lunch (I know, that seemed like a jump, but I’m going somewhere here). In fact, I like all 3 meals, breakfast, lunch and dinner. I particularly like to have lunch with other people, especially friends. (more…)
You remember those dreams, don’t you? You’re on the school bus, you get to school, stand up and as you’re walking, you realize you forgot to put your pants on that morning! How the heck did that happen? Immediately, you’re mortified, but instead of getting help (I (more…)
I had an interesting conversation yesterday with someone that came to my office. He was low on funds, needed to grow his business quickly and didn’t want to make cold calls.
Him: I have the best [product] and no one is buying it! I built it, it works and it will save a company thousands of dollars (more…)
Sunday night and I just finished playing 4-Square with my husband and two kids. It was so very muggy outside in our North Carolina air, but it was a BLAST! My family is supremely important to me and 4-Square is just a part of how my husband and I help our kids to feel special.
It brings up an important point that we tend to forget sometimes. No matter who is in our lives, we have to do things with them in order to help them to feel special. I could tell my family all day long that they’re special to me and that I love them, but unless I act on it, the statements can become words without meaning.
What are your customers hearing from you? What do your prospects think of you? Do you say things that you don’t back up with action?
Take another look at what you’re saying in business and be sure that you back every word up with appropriate action. If not, your presence and your words become less important. If your words become insignificant, you could become a pest…and noone wants a pest to come around!
Be true to your word. Sell ethically and be happy!

I’ve been blogging for a while on different sites and have been told over and over again about how I had to get myself over to WordPress…so here I am. Ta-da!
Oh the name – Sell Ethically?
Well, there’s two versions of the story – the long version and the short version. The short version is that I’m in sales…have been for some time. In fact, I’m now a sales trainer, professional speaker and yep…I still sell. Only one thing I can’t stand in sales.
Liars.
No need for it. You can be ethical and still be successful. In fact, I would argue that you will be more successful than the sales sharks. Maybe not initially…but over time, yes, absolutely.
So, that’s what’s up with the name.
The long version? Well, you’ll have to wait for that…or take me out to lunch.
Next time, I’ll share a little about myself.
‘Til then – sell ethically and be happy!
